TURON DE KALABASA

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 curve size pumpkin (kalabasa)
  • 1/2 cup condensed milk
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 tspn. Vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • Pinch of salt
  • Turon wrapper

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Peel, Boil & Drain pumpkins. Cut into 1-inch size.
  2. Using a medium size pan, pour cold water until it covers all pumpkins. Sprinkle a pinch of salt and bring it to boil.
  3. Reduce heat from medium-low, and cook 16 to 20 minutes or until fork-tender.
  4. Drain the pumpkin in a large colander.
  5. Place the cooked pumpkin into a large bowl.
  6. Mash the pumpkin coarsely.
  7. Add condensed milk, butter, egg,vanilla extract, honey and sugar.Mix well.
  8. Then wrap with turon wrapper. Set aside.
  9. In a pan, heat the oil and put-in some brown sugar.Wait until the brown sugar floats
  10. Then start frying until it becomes golden brown.
